Sonoma Mountain Charter School is one of five schools in the Old Adobe Union School District. With a student body of approximately 470 students, we are a student-centered, high performing elementary school in Petaluma, California. We work to create an engaging and active learning environment for our students. Our academic programs are aimed at fostering a joy for learning and we hold ourselves responsible for every student’s success.
Great schools strive to provide that something extra for students and Sonoma Mountain is no exception.

Sonoma Mountain is celebrating 20 years and we are excited to announce our "Roaring 20's" Gala in honor of this very special anniversary!
Mark your calendars now for Saturday, March 10th, 5 to 11pm, for this memorable night. This year's event will be held at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building (1094 Petaluma Boulevard) and we have some great surprises in store for you. Individual tickets will go on sale at the end of February for $30 apiece. This night of nostalgia will feature dinner, drinks, and dancing as well as amazing silent and live auction items. Be sure to book your babysitter now as this night is for adults only.
The annual Gala is the year's largest fundraiser for our school. All proceeds support PTA sponsored programs and allow us to offer many extra opportunities to our students.
We can't wait to celebrate and fundraise with all our SoMo friends & family!
Artists, mark your calendars! Art Adventure Week is coming January 29 - February 2!
We'll celebrate the start of the week with Family Art Night on Tuesday, January 23 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm in our multipurpose room.
Art Adventure is our school-wide event where ART is the focus! Our students will enjoy art workshops with Ane Rovetta, silkscreening t-shirts, and other great events throughout the week, including our school-wide, collaborative art project!
On Thursday, February 1, all students rotate through three classrooms to learn about different artists (Picasso, Monet, Mondrian, etc.) and/or mediums (pastels, mosaic, collage, watercolor, clay sculpture, etc.). A project is completed in each class in the style of the artist and/or using specific techniques and mediums. Many volunteers are needed for this day!
Lots of volunteers are needed to help with the success of the week! Click here to access the volunteer form.
Get excited, SoMo, for a wonderful event!
